Martyr Yahya Sinwar Literary Award Held
The closing ceremony of the Martyr Yahya Sinwar Award was held in Muscat with the introduction of selected works.
According to the Secretariat of the World Prize for Palestinian Literature, on Wednesday afternoon, August 1st (23 July), a novel writing competition about the martyred commander, Yahya Sinwar, concluded its work at a literary gathering full of joy and hope in Muscat, the capital of Oman. This competition, which was held by Dr. Hamoud bin Khamis Al-Nofali, Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the World Prize for Palestinian Literature, took place in an atmosphere filled with epic, with the presence of a selected group of literary and media figures, as well as a number of writers and enthusiasts of the art of the novel and the resistance movement.
Yahya Sinwar is a Symbol of Freedom
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Abdulrahman bin Juma Al-Nofali. Subsequently, Dr. Hamoud Al-Nofali, who was responsible for organizing this competition, emphasized in his remarks that this competition is not merely a literary event, but rather an awareness-raising project aimed at immortalizing the memory of Martyr Sinwar in the hearts of generations and highlighting his leadership role in the Palestinian resistance.
Dr. Hamoud Al-Nofali further explained that this competition began in November 2024 and attracted over 30 participants from several Arab and Islamic countries, with 13 novels reaching the final stage to compete for top honors. These works will soon be distributed in the Arab world and other countries.
He added that the goal of this initiative is to «project the resistance front into literature and the novel through words, in such a way that Sinwar's character remains a symbol of freedom and his struggle story becomes a source of inspiration for all those who believe that the freedom of Palestine is an inevitable destiny».
Later in the ceremony, Dr. Ali Afzali, representative of the Secretariat of the World Prize for Palestinian Literature, referring to the critical conditions faced these days by the people of Gaza and the shortage of water and food, stated: «Gaza is hungry but steadfastly resisting with dignity, a place that has no weapon but the heart and no shield but faith. All honor now lies in being the voice of the oppressed in times of injustice and a banner for justice.»
Announcement of Results and Honoring the Winners of the Martyr Yahya Sinwar Award
At the end, the top works received by the Yahya Sinwar Award Secretariat were announced in the presence of the head of the judging panel for the World Prize for Palestinian Literature. As follows:
First place: Dr. Amin Al-Shami from Yemen, winner of a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of $1500;
Second place: Dr. Islam Al-A'sar from Morocco, winner of a certificate of appreciation and a $500 prize;
Third place: Raya bint Mohammed bin Ali Al-Khafiriyah from Oman, winner of a certificate of appreciation and a $500 prize;
Fourth place: Thurya bint Hamad bin Saleh Al-Salmi from Oman, winner of a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of $500;
Fifth place: Balqees bint Jamal Al-Kathiri from Yemen, winner of a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of $500.
